Gently drift with dusty sounds ft. Hayden Thorpe

Scottish composer Erland Cooper shares a selection of calming music inspired by tiny particles of dust and their place in the cycle of life. Plus a safe haven from Hayden Thorpe.

Join Scottish composer and musician Erland Cooper for another unique musical journey to find that all too elusive feeling of calm.

In this episode, Erland creates a soothing soundtrack inspired by the beauty of dust and its place in the natural world. Erland reflects on the hope he feels in moments of seeing tiny particles of dust rising upwards in a beam of sunlight, representing a sense of renewal that is part of the natural cycle of life. He’ll play songs to soundtrack that feeling of transformation, with music from Laura Kampman, Yasmin Williams and Yanaco.

Plus the English musician and singer Hayden Thorpe, formerly of the band Wild Beasts, takes us to his sonic safe haven - a field recording of a vast, arid landscape in England, reclaimed by nature, where he finds serenity and a hidden music that reveals itself to him.
