  1. Martinez, Chavarria and Emegha out but Gusto back for Chelseapublished at 15:47 BST

Chelsea v Tottenham (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Chelsea

Let's move on to Spurs' opponents Chelsea.

Here is manager Xabi Alonso on Emiliano Martinez's fitness after the Argentina goalkeeper broke his jaw in last weekend's win over Everton:

"He's doing better. He had the surgery. Day-by-day he's feeling better but we have to wait. A few weeks, hopefully less than more, but we need to wait.

"The good thing is he is feeling better. We need to listen to the specialists. Considering it was a bad one, he is doing good."

On the fitness of full-backs Malo Gusto and Pep Chavarria: "Malo is fine and Pep is training a little bit more, but he is not going to make it."

On Emmanuel Emegha, who is yet to make his debut after arriving from Strasbourg in the summer: "He is feeling better. We need to wait."

  2. 'I prefer one too strong reaction, than one player without blood'published at 15:37 BST

Chelsea v Tottenham (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi the club's poor league record at Chelsea, with just one win in 34 matches:

“I think it’s not just this negative record, there are many, many negative records but for me it’s one motivation more and for the players. I want this negative record to give us more motivation and more mentality, more energy to win a game and play a good game because we have enough qualities to win this game.

“It’s against one very good team, very good coach and they have a clear style of play with great players. But also the Tottenham players are very good, the level of the players is high. We have to show together as a team as well as individuals."

On managing discipline at Stamford Bridge after Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off against Manchester United for a headbutt: “The balance is always difficult to fix - a balance between the energy, spirit, mentality. If you have confidence in the players, you leave the players to decide their behaviour, to decide the reaction.

"For sure, I prefer one 'too strong' reaction, than one player without blood, without reaction.”

  3. Porro back but Bergvall and Savio out, Maddison unlikely - team newspublished at 15:33 BST

Chelsea v Tottenham (Sat, 17:30 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi has confirmed that midfielder Lucas Bergvall and winger Savio are both unavailable for the trip to Chelsea, as well as the suspended Rodrigo Bentancur.

De Zerbi also said he does not know if James Maddison will be fit tomorrow after the midfielder missed the "first three days" of team training following the victory against Coventry City.

Similarly, Dejan Kulusevski held an individual training session and De Zerbi said for all his players he does not want to take risks.

However, Pedro Porro is back in contention after recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up before the last international break.

  4. I know exactly what to expect - Farke on Sunderlandpublished at 15:29 BST

Sunderland v Leeds (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Leeds United

A final word from Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke on player expectations and facing Sunderland:

"[The players have] not exceeded expectations because I always expect a clean sheet. I wanted seven clean sheets on the board, it was not to be. We are one of the teams with the best defensive stats in the Premier League. We have scored many goals and created many chances."

On the test posed by Sunderland: "I know exactly what to expect. I'm pretty sure they won't finish in the position in which they currently are [bottom]. I expect them to play to their DNA and their plan. We expect also a Sunderland side who will be highly motivated and back to their best. But we want to make sure that we will be successful ourselves."

  6. I totally back my strikers to do the job - Farkepublished at 15:27 BST

Sunderland v Leeds (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Leeds United

Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke on the potential of Lukas Nmecha coming in for Dominic Calvert-Lewin: "For a back-up striker, I think Lukas Nmecha has scored seven goals. Bayern Munich would be happy if a back-up for Harry Kane scored seven goals. So it is really good. I think it's a really good record.

"Lukas is similar strength to Dominic. Physicality and work-load is quite good. He is capable of scoring goals, sometimes out of nothing. I trust them both. I can trust Lukas if he comes in or starts. I totally back my strikers to do the job."

Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke on team news:

"Joe Rodon is still out, doing his rehab work. Our offensive players from the last game are all doubtful. Dominic Calvert-Lewin got a tackle and a foul late on in the last game and is struggling with a bruise on his foot. Still a question mark behind his availability.

"Anton Stach the same, problem with his foot and question mark on his availability.

    "Noah Okafor, struggling.

"If the game would be today, all three wouldn't be available, they've missed many training sessions during this week.

"Good positive news is we still have today and we will try to make them available."

    Arsenal

Right, here's a final word from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on whether Everton boss David Moyes is the king of Premier League managers:

"I don’t know if it’s the king or what it is, but he’s certainly someone that I think we all look up to him.

"Not only for his longevity, I think what he represents for the game, what he represents for the Premier League, and his trajectory, and me especially because I know the man behind the coach, which is the most important thing.

"Then I really know as well the coach, and he’s a superb coach."

Mikel Arteta on Eberechi Eze, who scored against Bayern Munich in midweek after replacing Bukayo Saka:

  12. Dowman will have minutes 'for sure'published at 15:15 BST

Arsenal v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on if Max Dowman is an option to replace Saka:

"Well it’s something inevitable, to go back to that memory and the feeling of the moment [when Dowman scored against Everton last season] and that’s with us and that’s going to stay in the stadium for a long, long time I think.

"He’s training, and every time he’s got a moment to play, he’s showing that he’s a player that is going to impact the game, so for sure he’s going to have minutes."

  13. 'More scans' needed to assess Saka injurypublished at 15:09 BST

Arsenal v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Arsenal

In today's news conference, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta did not put a timescale on Bukayo Saka's return from injury.

He said: "He’s got another MRI this afternoon because he had quite a lot of fluid in the area so it was difficult to understand the extent of the injury, but we’ll know more probably tomorrow.

"Again, we need a few more scans and opinions from the specialist.

"Obviously when a player has to walk off the pitch, he’s struggling to walk without any pain, he’s restricted to movement, they are not good signs.

"So again, let’s be a little bit patient so we can give a definitive assessment and then let you know."

Arsenal fear winger Bukayo Saka could be out for up to eight weeks with the quadriceps injury he sustained in the Gunners' Champions League draw against Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old will undergo an MRI scan on Friday afternoon to better understand the problem, which forced him off at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Fluid around the affected muscle has made diagnosing the injury difficult, but club medics are estimating after early examinations that Saka will miss a minimum of six weeks and fear it could be even longer.

If those early concerns are realised, Saka will miss a clutch of key games for the Gunners, as well as England's forthcoming matches against Croatia and Spain.

"We need a few more scans and opinions from the specialists," said Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta.

"When a player has to walk off the pitch, he is struggling to walk without any pain, and is restricted to movement; it is not a good sign. Let's be a little bit patient so we can give a definitive assessment.

"He's got another MRI as there was quite a lot of fluid in the area so it was quite difficult to understand the extent of the injury. We will know more tomorrow."

Losing Bukayo Saka, who has scored four goals in 11 appearances in all competitions this season, will be tough for Arsenal to deal with.

But the Gunners have invested heavily in their squad over the past two summer transfer windows and have options.

After Saka's early withdrawal in their Champions League draw at Bayern Munich, Noni Madueke, who had started on the left wing, switched to the right and looked bright, and Eberechi Eze scored the opening goal from the left after coming off the bench to replace Saka.

Madueke can play on both wings, while summer signing Christos Tzolis - although currently out with a hamstring injury - has started the season well.

The Gunners also have 16-year-old Max Dowman as an attacking option, and the youngster has already shown that he can have an impact for the senior side after scoring in the Premier League last season.

  17. Saka injury 'does not look good' - Arteta post-matchpublished at 14:51 BST

Arsenal v Everton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    On to that Arsenal line.

If you remember, Bukayo Saka suffered a thigh injury early in Arsenal's 2-2 Champions League draw at Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta said immediately after the game that the quadriceps problem "does not look good at all".

The 25-year-old winger went down in the 10th minute at Allianz Arena - attempting to play a pass with nobody around him - and had to be replaced by Eberechi Eze, who went on to score the opening goal.

"They are a bit concerned. A player who has to come off with a really sharp pain is never good news but we have to wait and see," Arteta told TNT Sports.

Saka has had fitness issues in recent months and his game time was managed at the end of last season, as well as with England at the World Cup, because of an Achilles injury he picked up in March.

    Brighton & Hove Albion

And a final word from Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler on when Mats Wiefer and Yankuba Minteh are likely to return:

"There's an option [they could feature], especially with Minteh. There's an option but definitely next week so they will train tomorrow with the team and we will see if they are available or not.

"If they are not available this weekend then I am quite convinced we will see them back in the squad next week for the [Manchester] City games."

  19. Struijk injury 'day by day'published at 14:46 BST

Liverpool v Brighton (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler on Pascal Struijk injury: "We have to see how it's going today and tomorrow.

"Like I said, it's not a big issue but it's also something that can get bigger if we risk it too early. We have so many games so we have to take care of the player.

"We have the responsibility for that so therefore, we have to make wise decisions. Let's go day by day then see if he is available or not."
