[Victor Munoz] be thinking why didn't I hit that first time.

It's not a bad ball from Gomez and you just have the feeling that Liverpool are getting nearer and nearer.

Nice play from Archie Brown as Fenerbahce come forward again.

The left-back gets past Joe Gomez and shoots right-footed from 20 yards. Dragged wide.

Is it too late for Tuchel to include Nyoni in the next England squad?

Joe Gomez has never scored an official goal for Liverpool - sadly, his penalty in the shootout against Chelsea last week doesn't count - and shows why with a horrible, wayward shot.

The ball comes to him on the edge of the box soon afterwards and this time he tees up Victor Munoz. The Spain winger cuts inside his man before his shot is hacked over the bar by Milan Skriniar.

A half chance from nothing for Fenerbahce as Victor Munoz tracks back well but then hits his clearance straight at Archie Brown.

The ball drops kindly for the full-back and he forces a save from Alisson. A reminder to Liverpool not to relax.

That should've been 2-1. Virgil van Dijk gets the header relatively unchallenged and you expect him to score. He should've.

  9. CLOSE!published at 57 mins

    Fenerbahce 1-1 Liverpool

Two decent efforts in the space of a few seconds for Liverpool.

Firstly, Bradley Barcola cuts in from the left and hits a firm shot that Ederson bundles wide of the post.

From the resulting corner, Virgil van Dijk gets up well and powers a header goalwards. Too close to Ederson.

Dominik Szoboszlai quite rightly opts again shooting, shifts the ball to Kostas Tsimikas and he crosses to the back post.

Virgil van Dijk tries to head back across goal but Fenerbahce clear and break.

Try Nyoni is there, though, and makes a good tackle to end the counter.

Much more like the start of the first half than the end of it so far since the break.

Liverpool on top and controlling things form inside the Fenerbahce half.

Another free-kick gives Dominik Szoboszlai a sight of goal. Albeit from fully 35 yards...

Don't understand the hate for Liverpool conceding. Four clean sheets in the league already and the goal conceded tonight was a massive deflection? This is also a rebuild season, looks very promising in my opinion.

More trickiness from Rio Ngumoha and he wins Liverpool a free-kick on the left, in line with the edge of the penalty area.

Another chance to get the box into the box. Wasted. Overhit by Dominik Szoboszlai.

Second phase from a set piece and the ball comes back to Kostas Tsimikas. His clipped cross is met by the head of Alexis Mac Allister.

On target but easily saved by Ederson.

  15. Liverpool conceding 'self inflicted'published at 18:55 GMT

    Fenerbahce 1-1 Liverpool

    Steve McManaman
Former Liverpool winger on TNT Sports

That’s self inflicted. That’s an awful goal. The biggest gap in the wall that you can fire it through, bounces off the big tough centre half who’s turned his back.

That should never happen, so that’s a poor goal and that’s why they need to improve in the second half.

Thankfully the bench has really talented players. Barcola has been absent as a number nine. He has to be pushed out wide, that hasn’t worked

Lovely Liverpool move and already they're getting Bradley Barcola more involved in the build-up second half.

His clever touch sets Alexis Mac Allister driving into the Fenerbahce half, he finds Rio Ngumoha and another good run ends with a Liverpool corner.

A push in the middle means another Fenerbahce free-kick, though.

Said this before the Arsenal game; Iraola has seen what a talent Nyoni is. He’s only 19 and looks very comfortable in centre mid, which is pretty phenomenal. Such a hard position to have impact that young. He’s exceptional.

The long throw is headed away but the ball gets back to Joe Gomez, who puts the ball into the middle but the referees pots a foul in there and Fenerbahce have a free-kick.

  19. Liverpool never 'kicked on' after goalpublished at 18:52 GMT

    Fenerbahce 1-1 Liverpool

    Steve McManaman
Former Liverpool winger on TNT Sports

Liverpool haven’t [kicked on]. They have been a bit laboured. Not sure if it’s the aftereffects of the Arsenal game, wether it is conditions tonight but they haven’t been fully at it. It could be the changes tonight.

They have been okay but Liverpool have to improve though because as much as they have dominated possession Fenerbahce have had the better chances.

They hit the bar, they could have had a penalty, they got the goal, they looked dangerous on the counter attack so that needs to be stopped. They have to shorten the pitch, and make it more condensed.
