Thanks for your company and join us again tomorrow for another busy day of sport.
He already has the fans on his side - if the vocal crowds at the news conference are anything to go by. Miami appears to have missed the presence of a football team - can Beckham really be the answer to their dreams?
Image source, APSo there we have it. He has won the Champions League, the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, and played in a World Cup. Now he is about to become an owner of an MLS football team in Miami.
The name is unknown - to us anyway - as is when the team will be formed, one thing is for sure though and this is David Beckham has big plans.
He is already talking about bringing great players to join him and we await the next 'Beckham chapter' with interest.
Beckham is asked if Alex Ferguson has contacted him about a return to management. "Funnily enough, no" is the reply.
Beckham is asked what players he wants in his new Miami team. He respectfully declines to answer but again states he had lots of interest from former team mates wanting to join him in Miami.
"We want the best", he says.
Beckham's words certainly seem to be going down with the raucous crowd waiting outside an cheering every word as he sets out his bold vision for the future as an owner of a football team in Miami.
As of yet, we don't know what they are planning on calling this team. Miami United anyone?
Image source, AFPDavid Beckham on the impact he wants to make on football in American football: "It is what this country aspires to be, it wants to be the best at everything.
"We want people to be proud of the country they support."
David Beckham: "We will want to bring some of the best players to Miami to play for this team. I have seen what happens when you bring great players in.
"Yes, we will bring great players in. The fortunate thing about my career is players are already interested in coming to Miami.
"The one thing I want to achieve, is to set up a kids academy. We want local talent, not just great players from abroad.
"The US team the way they have improved has been incredible and the only way that will continue is to have good academies."
David Beckham: "There are a lot of things to do, nothing successful is easy in life. There will be more fun times than difficult times.
"We are going to have a lot of interesting people that want to invest in this club. When you have the right investors, with passion for the game, that is the place to start.
"We are making a soccer club that is going to loved by millions of people. We plan on this being a global team."
Image source, ReutersDavid Beckham: "We will fund the stadium ourselves, we don't want public funding. We can fund the stadium ourselves.
"We want to create a stadium, a soccer club that is the peoples soccer club. I have worked with some of the biggest clubs and greatest players and this is a dream.
"I have lived the dream. This is what soccer can do for you."
Beckham and his representatives plan to build a privately funded stadium for the new team and reportedly met last week with Miami Mayor Gimenez about 30 potential sites.
A league statement released on Wednesday stated that an agreement for a new stadium must be finalized in order for MLS to come to Miami.
David Beckham on why he chose Miami: "Why not Miami. All joking aside, for me I wanted to create a team that we can start from scratch. I know there was a team 10 years ago who folded. I wanted to create a team that can be very personal.
"I want to make it my own team. We are very excited, Miami is a vibrant city with a lot of passion. I know this city is ready for soccer. I know this is going to be successful.
"I am looking forward to spending a lot more time and my family being here."
Beckham becomes the first former professional sportsman to join the ownership ranks in Major League Soccer.
There is a lot of talking and a lot of back-slapping going on but at the moment, we are still waiting for the details of Beckham's MLS franchise.
MLS commissioner Don Garber said: "David will be Laser focused on delivering a world class football team this city can be proud of."
It is confirmed David Beckham has chosen Miami as the location for his MLS franchise.
David Beckham on his new MLS franchise in Miami: "This is an exciting time. Something we are really looking forward, bringing to Miami."
Here we go. David Beckham is taking to the stage, dressed in a dapper suit, as his charity work is flagged up to the crowd.
The press are waiting for David Beckham to make his appearance in Miami as we await the details of his new MLS franchise.
Cameras are poised at the edge of the stage area, journalists are on their phones. Now we just need the man himself.
Image source, PAPromoter Eddie Hearn admits negotiations over a rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves are proving "frustrating" but remains confident the fight will eventually happen.
Hearn said: "We're still going. I think purse bids will be called this week and it will take 28 days until they happen. During that time you can still negotiate.
"It's frustrating. Earlier this week it felt like we were quite close and then it was not so close a few hours later. I'm still hopeful we can get there, as I have been from the start."
Matt Morris:, external Have to say I Think this says more about Cook being out of his depth and being unable to lead people than about KP!
Tim Nichols:, external ECB needs to stop the secrecy and tell the fans reasoning and truth behind KP decision. Suffering fans deserve this.
SGPrinting:, external Leaves me very uninterested in English Cricket , Once again a ridiculous decision by the people in charge.
What do you make of the ECB's decision to end Kevin Pietersen's international career? Has he been made a scapegoat for England's disastrous tour of Australia?
