Andy in Norwich: Since when was Andros Townsend going to the World Cup anyway? He can't even get in the Spurs starting 11 never mind the national side.

Jenni: Connor Wickham for England? Five goals in three games, he's clearly the most in-form English striker around at present. Surely that's what England need this summer, players who are on top of their game and not those simply living off past reputations.

Andrew: Roy Hodgson has picked players based on current form throughout his time as England manager. I hope he continues to do so going into the World Cup.

Former Tottenham defender Ledley King says Andros Townsend will bounce back from the injury that looks set to deny him a place at the World Cup. Tottenham and England winger Townsend is poised to miss this summer's tournament after being ruled out for up to 10 weeks with an ankle injury.

"It's a tough one to take for him," King, speaking ahead of his testimonial next month, tells BBC Sport. "One thing I would say is that he is say young enough to come back again. Right now it is important for him to get himself right, to get himself fit and bounce back for next season. This setback will make him stronger mentally but it is vital he recovers well and gets himself back for pre-season now."
