"Lancashire showed real fight this morning to get themselves back into the game taking Somerset's last seven wickets for 108 runs. Conditions could hardly have been more different to the first day, glorious sunshine on Sunday, replaced by cloudy skies this morning. If that batsman prevailed yesterday the bowlers certainly struck back today.

"The Red Rose tinkering with the team for this match opened up with Alex Davies alongside Horton, Luis Reece has found runs hard to come by so far and will hopefully find some form in the second team this week.

"Davies has a chance to impress in this match, if the wicket-keeper can score runs, then he looks certain to keep his place in the team as a batsman."

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport, with England in Miami

"The Sunshine State" of Florida is not exactly living up to its name for England so far.

Miamii was hit by a torrential rainstorm last night and another arrived this morning which meant England's players had to train indoors at Barry University as the pitches were temporarily waterlogged.

It is the start of the hurricane season here and this week will play a vital role in England's acclimatisation in the searing heat and humidity of Miami before they head to Rio for the start of the World Cup.

The weather is currently dry but there are more ominous dark clouds overhead. England will hope they do not bring more of the rain we have seen in the few hours.

From BBC London 94.9's Kevin Hand:

"More than a session was lost to rain much to the relief of Middlesex, who find themselves in deep trouble at Chester-le-Street.

"Their off colour performance with the ball, that helped Durham to a considerably above par 568-9 declared, was confirmed as the hosts ripped through the visitors' top order in reply.

"Toby Roland-Jones found a more consistent line and length to secure a third consecutive five-wicket return in first-class cricket but the damage had already been done by the scoring rate on the first day."

BBC Sport understands that the Dutch FA president Michael Van Praag and the German FA president Wolfgang Niersbach are under consideration by Uefa as potential candidates to stand against Sepp Blatter in the 2015 Fifa presidential election.

Sepp Blatter has in recent months strongly suggested that he will seek a fifth term of office - breaking a promise he made to Uefa's congress in 2011 that this would be his last period as the head of Fifa.

It's thought Mr Blatter will address Fifa's annual congress in São Paulo next week and will make it clear he is willing to take on another four year mandate - but only if it is the will of the governing body's member associations.
