Allowing professionals in Olympics 'dangerous'published at 16:34 BST 1 June 2016

    Boxing

The British Boxing Board of Control have issued a statement, against the AIBA's decision to allow professional boxers compete in the Olympics.

"Following the announcement that AIBA are to permit professional boxers to compete in future Olympic Games, the British Boxing Board of Control confirm their objection to such a proposal," said a statement from the BBBofC.

"Such a move is against the spirit of the Olympics, disrespectful to the many GB amateur boxers who, throughout the Olympic cycle compete around the world in qualifying tournaments, and ultimately dangerous.

"It is the hope of the British Boxing Board of Control and many within the professional sport in Great Britain and throughout the world that AIBA reconsider such a move that is not beneficial to the sport as a whole."

'You're supposed to hit people hard'published at 15:16

    Football

Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane is not a man to mince his words, and he has not held back today.

Asked about his side's 2-1 home loss to Belarus yesterday, Keane replied: "I wanted to kill a few of them last night, so we have moved on. It will be a different starting XI against Sweden.

"Anyone who has an excuse has not played football. I want people to be carrying knocks, I'm worried when people aren't carrying knocks. You're supposed to tackle, hit people at pace and hit them hard because that's part of the game. It's not chess.

"If you get a knock you don't have to go for a scan or go on painkillers - it is a man's game we are playing, believe it or not."
