Competitors from Russia and Kenya must have extra checks before they can take part at Rio 2016, the International Olympic Committee has said.

Sportspeople from countries deemed 'non-compliant' with anti-doping rules will have to be declared eligible by their sport's international federation.

The IOC met in Lausanne on Tuesday and agreed a five-point plan "to ensure a level playing field for athletes at the Olympic Games".

More on this story here.

Double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes has welcomed the IAAF's decision to uphold Russia's ban from international competition.

It means Russia's track-and-field team is suspended from the Rio Olympics, although individual athletes can compete if they prove they are clean.

Dame Kelly, who won the 800m and 1500m in Athens, told BBC Radio Kent: "Until we make a stance, nothing changes."

Romelu Lukaku's agent has offered Everton hope that they can hang on to the striker with the arrival of Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park.

AC Milan and Paris St Germain are reportedly interested in signing the Belgian striker.

However, representative Mino Raiola told Belgian newspaper Sportwereld: "If he leaves, it's has to be a good deal for all parties involved.

"Everton don't need money anymore. Rom wants to play for a club that can win trophies. Something's changed at Everton - there's a new project".

Worrying news from Rio de Janeiro, less than two months before the Olympics Games start...

An Australian athlete who has competed in six Paralympic Games has been robbed at gunpoint in the Brazilian city.

Liesl Tesch said a man brandishing a gun pushed her off her bicycle and stole it on Sunday.

Australian Paralympic team physiotherapist Sarah Ross also lost her bicycle in the attack.

The Australian Olympic Committee has said Rio must improve security in the city in the aftermath of the robbery.

Hearts have had their Europa League opening fixture switched for a second time.

Hearts were drawn out second against Estonian side Infonet and head coach Robbie Neilson initially welcomed playing the away leg first, but the opening game was subsequently switched to Tynecastle because of a fixtures clash in Tallinn.

Now the second leg has been moved forward 24 hours, causing further problems for fans who booked flights.

A club statement read: "Heart of Midlothian's Europa League qualifying match away to FC Infonet has now been confirmed as taking place in Tallinn on Wednesday, July 6th.

"The club has only been able to access this information this morning, hence an update being provided at this time. "The club can only apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are in dialogue with the SFA and UEFA and will provide further updates in due course."

Northern Ireland believe they can "hurt" world champions Germany in their final Euro 2016 Group C match, says manager Michael O'Neill.

A draw at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday would secure O'Neill's side a place in the last 16, but they could progress even with a defeat.

O'Neill said: "This is a special moment for Northern Ireland.

"There is no team that is flawless. It is up to us to maximise opportunities with whatever possession we have."

It has been a week to forget for Russian sport. First the ban over doping which threatens their athletes' participation in the Rio Olympics, then a humiliating group-stage exit from Euro 2016.

"I wonder what words journalists will use to describe this defeat, and what words the Russian football bosses will use to justify themselves," he added.
