Celtic know they will finish bottom and are heading out of Europe.

Defender Erik Sviatchenko and striker Leigh Griffiths are fit after missing Saturday's 4-3 win at Motherwell.

Gunners could rest Sanchezpublished at 16:26

Champions League, FC Basel v Arsenal (19:45 GMT)

Arsenal could rest forward Alexis Sanchez for their final Champions League Group A game at Basel.

The Gunners have qualified for the last 16 and will finish second in the group regardless of their own result if Paris St-Germain beat Ludogorets Razgrad.

If Chile international Sanchez is left out, it could provide an opportunity for Spanish striker Lucas Perez.

Midfielder Granit Xhaka returns to his former club Basel, who are vying with Ludogorets for a Europa League place.

The Swiss side must hope Ludogorets of Bulgaria are beaten by French champions PSG and then pick up at least a point.

Arsenal seek to steal top spotpublished at 16:02 GMT 6 December 2016

Basel v Arsenal (Tue, 19:45 GMT)

Arsenal travel to Basel tonight trailing Paris St-Germain on goal difference so could still top Group A if the French side fail to win at home to Ludogorets Razgrad.

The Gunners have been eliminated in the last 16 in the past six seasons and have finished second in their group in each of the past five.

But this season finishing second and playing the top side in another group in the first knockout stage may not mean a harder tie as, going into the final matchday, all of Porto, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Benfica are second in their respective groups.

Celtic face uphill taskpublished at 15:40

Manchester City v Celtic (Tue, 19:45 GMT)

Celtic are guaranteed to finish bottom of the group and their record away from home in the Champions League does not inspire hope of anything other than a City victory.

The Bhoys have lost 26 of their 29 Champions League games on the road and have never kept a clean sheet.

They have also failed to win in their past eight Champions League games, which equals their longest run without a victory in the competition, and only Legia Warsaw have conceded more goals in the competition this term.

City are unbeaten in their past seven Champions League home games, winning five and drawing two, which is their longest run without a defeat in the competition at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola's side cannot improve on their second place in the group but victory over the Scottish champions would ensure their first 100% home record in a Champions League group stage.

Northampton winger George North has been stood down from playing by Northampton until he has undergone an independent medical assessment.

The Wales international, 24, suffered a head injury against Leicester on Saturday after being tackled in the air by Tigers winger Adam Thompstone but continued playing.

The club say their doctors didn't have access to the footage seen on television - which appears to be a serious flaw in the system.

"If evidence suggesting a loss of consciousness had been available to the medical team at the time of assessment, George would not have been allowed to return to the field of play," the statement said.

Another European Ryder Cup-winning captain, Colin Montgomerie, has also backed the appointment of Thomas Bjorn for the match against USA in 2018.

"I saw first hand what he was like as a vice-captain in 2010, and he was exceptional. I used him possibly more than any other vice-captain at Celtic Manor. (when Montgomerie's Europe won 14.5-13.5)

"He wears his heart on his sleeve and I think that's important for the role. I wouldn't be worried about his combustible and fiery nature, that is good in a way.

"I think you need that to beat the might of the Americans. "We need to win the Ryder Cup back in France, and I feel we've got the best captain to do that."

After a weekend of memorable comebacks, Manchester City's kids staged a one of their own in the Uefa Youth League, battling back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to beat 3-2 with Celtic.

Lorenzo Gonzalez scored the winner in stoppage time.

There are a huge number of potential opponents, which will be thinned out over the next couple of days.
