Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is probably aware that one more win should be enough to secure the club's Premier League status for next year.

But will Jonjo Shelvey be involved in trying to get that victory on Saturday? The midfielder was an unused substitute in the defeat against Arsenal but apparently is chomping at the bit to get back in.

"I was talking to him today – he is telling me he is ready and wants to play," Benitez said.

"We have to decide, depending on him and the other players. But he loves football and wants to play."

Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez has also conducted his news conference this afternoon.

The Magpies have won their last three matches at home and Benitez says that they are "playing with more confidence".

"Miguel Almiron has given us something different in attack, and with the fans and players together – fighting with that belief and that confidence – you have more chances to get points," he said.

A bit of breaking news emerging from the Premier League who have issued this statement:

All 20 Premier League clubs today discussed their significant concerns regarding reported proposals for changing the format and qualification criteria of UEFA club competitions from season 2024-25.

All clubs unanimously agreed it is inappropriate for European football bodies to create plans that would alter the structures, calendar and competitiveness of the domestic game and will work together to protect the Premier League.

In England, football plays an important role in our culture and everyday life. Millions of fans attend matches across the country, with allegiances and local rivalries often passed down through generations. We have a fantastic combination of competitive football and committed fans that we will vigorously defend.

The structures of domestic football are determined by leagues and their respective national associations. We will now work with the FA and other leagues to ensure that European football bodies understand the importance of this, and their obligation to maintain the health and sustainability of domestic league football.

Wolves

Nuno Espirito Santo has delivered a very basic message to his Wolves players before their FA Cup semi-final - 'play the game and not the occasion'.

I almost feel like going full on The Smiths,'Stop me if you think that you've heard this one before'.

"Everybody knows what it could mean, but we have to play it just like another game, then make it special to make something happen - play the game," he said.

"You have to know how to play it, focus on the game, don't think about anything else - what it could mean will come afterwards."

Maybe I was being a touch harsh earlier after all - Wolves haven't reached the final since 1960.

Arsenal

Arsenal manager Unai Emery also fielded questions on Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette - we've been here before haven't we?

On Ozil he said: "I’m very happy with him. I think the team has a good atmosphere, good spirit with each player helping us with their qualities and good behaviour. That’s the spirit I want, they are doing that, and Mesut is like the others [in that regard].

On Lacazette starting on Sunday: "It depends above all on our quality with the players. We need every player, every striker, Lacazette and [Pierre Emerick] Aubameyang. Sometimes they can both play, sometimes with one on the bench. It depends in the 90 minutes how we can respond tactically with one or two."

Arsenal

The Arsenal manager Unai Emery has also done his twirl in front of the press this afternoon.

And the Gunners boss says their away form will determine whether they finish in the top four or not come May - with five of their remaining seven Premier League games coming away from the Emirates.

"For us it’s a big challenge, away [from home] we want to achieve the same good performances as when we play at Emirates Stadium.

"We have confidence now but we know it’s very difficult and I think it’s a long way until the last matches. We’ll think about each match coming, [get] the information on how we can take the next matches.

"Now, each match is worth three points, like Sunday against Everton, which is the most important. We know other clubs will take a lot of points."

Chelsea

Now the Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri reckons that Gonzalo Higuain could be the next Luis Suarez if he stays at Stamford Bridge next season.

Well sort of. Here's what he actually said:

"I think that he has to improve. Physically, mentally. But I think also that he will be able to be very useful for us in the last part of the season," Sarri said.

"You know very well that it's not easy in the first months to play in the Premier League, it was a problem also for (Luis) Suarez in the first season at Liverpool he only scored four goals.

But in the second season he scored 24 goals. So it's not easy for a striker to play immediately well in the Premier League. I think he has time for improvement."

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is on pretty good form today. I don't think I've seen him so happy since he became manager at Stamford Bridge in fact.

But then again the Blues are now right in the mix again for a top-four spot - trailing fourth-placed Arsenal only on goal difference.

And he has showered praise on both Ruben Loftus-Cheek, for blossoming into a "complete" player, and Gonzalo Higuain.

"Loftus is a very good midfielder," Sarri said. "At the beginning of the season he was a very offensive midfielder. Now he is complete I think. Maybe he's ready to start most of the games, but we need to check every day the condition of his back.

"This morning he had only a recovery session. Because he needs time to recover after a match."

Everton

More from the Everton manager Marco Silva on Jordan Pickford:

"The first chat of the week I was clear with him.

Everything is clear in his mind about his obligations. It is my expectation it won't happen again. No one is happy with the situation, it was not a good thing. The matter is finished in this moment."

Ouch.

I think this probably constitutes a public rebuke....

Everton manager Marco Silva says goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been reminded of his duties and obligations after being caught up in a disturbance inSunderland at the weekend.

The England number one appeared to be involved in a fracas in the early hours of Monday morning. Northumbria Police and Everton are investigating the incident, and Toffees boss Silva made it clear on Friday he is "not happy" about it.

"Football players have duties and obligations. It is a matter for us to remind him and everything we must do we already did," Silva said.

"If you ask me as a manager I am not happy with what happened."

Radio 1's Scott Mills and Chris Star have had a go at predicting who will reach the FA Cup final...just have a watch of this.

Manchester City

More from the Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola - talking about the history of the FA Cup and Raheem Sterling paying for 550 pupils from his old school to attend the semi-final:

"When I was young in Catalonia it was quite usual to see FA Cup and Premier League games. That tradition at Wembley with managers leading their teams out - I've never been (to a final) and I can't deny how nice it would be.

"The club has won the competition five times and it's a nice challenge to get another.

"It was an incredible gesture from Raheem. This kind of thing makes a better society for everyone. Footballers are human beings and we all live together. I like it."

Manchester City

With Manchester City chasing an unprecedented quadruple BBC Sport's Simon Stone asked Pep Guardiola about whether his side was creating 'a new history'.

Here's what he had to say: "I really don't know. We are still young in terms of a lot of titles but every seaosn when you can win you are a better club, a better organisation.

"We cannot deny the last decade in terms of English titles and always qualifying for the Champions Leagu. We came from nothing in that and now we see how far we will get to get to another level."

Manchester City

More from the Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola:

"Almost everybody is fit. I try every game to think about the next one but always focus on trying to win. Everybody has to help us not just Benjamin Mendy. He alone cant help us with that challenge."

But what about Sergio Aguero, who limped off against Fulham?

"Aguero is travelling," adds Guardiola.

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola starts his news conference with a question about comments made by Danny Rose.

The Tottenham defender has said he "can't wait to see the back of football" and is frustrated at the lack of action taken against fans' racism.

"Danny Rose has not to do that. And I will tell him when I see him next Tuesday.

"The best way to fight and combat this kind of terrible situation is fighting and being there every day - and of course he is an extraordinary footballer."

Here comes the Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.....

Arsenal

Now some team news from Arsenal before manager Unai Emery's news conference gets into full swing.

Lucas Torreira (suspended), Hector Bellerin (knee), Rob Holding (knee) and Danny Wellbeck (ankle) will all be absent from the Gunners trip to Merseyside.

But Laurent Koscielny, Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka will be subject to late assessment and could be fit.

Simon Stone
BBC Sport

It is difficult to make a case for Brighton at Wembley tomorrow.

Manchester City have the squad strength, the form and the past results.

But, if Brighton need a straw to clutch at, it comes in the form of Wigan Athletic.

The Latics beat City in the 2013 final, the 2014 quarter-final and last season, when they were in League One, in the fifth round.

I am sure Pep Guardiola will be reminding his team there is no such thing as a walkover.

Watford

Now the Watford manager Javi Gracia reckons guiding Watford to the FA Cup final on 18 May will rank as the greatest achievement of his managerial career to date.

The Hornet's only other appearance in the final was all the way back in 1984 so a fair way back.

"I have never coached in a final," the 48-year-old said.

"I have reached semi-finals in Russia (as Rubin Kazan boss) but a final I never played and it would be the best achievement in my career for sure.

"It is something special this season because we worked really hard in pre-season and in all competitions and now we have the opportunity to enjoy with the supporters at Wembley one special game."
