Wolves

Despite his frustrations with testing, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has no concerns about playing West Ham so soon after Hammers manager David Moyes and players Issa Diop and Josh Cullen tested positive for Covid-19.

"We are not concerned, I wish David and the players the fastest recovery," he said.

“What happened to West Ham can happen to any one of us. It’s tough when you are preparing for a game and you cannot be on the touchline.

“Now we’re not concerned, we’re confident and we trust the authorities to keep things safe for us.”

A young Libyan Chelsea fan who nearly lost his life saving a man from drowning has been shocked with a message from Christian Pulisic.

Mohammed Al-Arabi was on a beach near the Libyan capital Tripoli recently when he heard someone in distress and rushed into the sea to help him.

However once the person was rescued Al-Arabi himself was nowhere to be found and was eventually dragged from the sea after a 20 minute search.

Al-Arabi was rushed to hospital where he spent 24 hours in a coma before eventually making a full recovery, as did the man he saved.

Everton

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti reports no fresh injury concerns for Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace with Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite the only absentees.

Fabian Delph made his first appearance since February against Fleetwood in midweek but Ancelotti says he needs more training sessions to be ready for Premier League matches and won't travel with the squad.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin felt his hamstring after coming off at half-time against Fleetwood but is fit for the weekend.

In contrast to Jordan Pickford, there has been nothing but praise for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has scored four goals in two Premier League games.

Carlo Ancelotti was in a jovial mood when I asked if Calvert-Lewin had improved since James Rodriguez had joined the club and whether he had set him a target for the season.

The Italian said: "James Rodriguez will of course help the striker because he is a fantastic assist man. The target of Dominic, I hope he can reach 20 goals because he has the quality and possibility like Richarlison. They are two fantastic strikers, and the fact we have Andre Gomes, James, Gylfi Sigurdsson, if they don't score at least 20 goals each, they can have a problem with me!"

He then joked: "If I play striker behind James and Gomes, and Sigurdsson, I would score goals, so they have to!"

Wolves

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has called on the government to accelerate coronavirus testing results as he feels it is hampering clubs' preparation for matches.

Wolves head to West Ham on Sunday, whose manager David Moyes is self-isolating after learning of his positive Covid test less than two hours before their midweek EFL Cup match against Hull.

The Wolves squad were tested on Friday but will not know their results until Saturday, just 24 hours before they kick-off at London Stadium.

“It’s tough for us, you get tested – we got tested today – and we don’t know the results," he said. "We’re preparing for the match on Sunday and having the stress about the final result, can you use a player, can you not?

“We are living in a bubble and every time a fan asks for a photo or for you to sign something you have to keep your distance. It’s very disruptive for preparation and planning.

“Faster results of the test would help all the teams immensely so we can proceed without having these problems.”

Everton keeper Jordan Pickford was trending on Wednesday night after his mistakes in the 5-2 win over Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup.

That has led to various keepers being linked with Carlo Ancelotti's team, but the Italian says he has "total confidence" in England's number one.

Ancelotti said: "There is a lot of focus on him but I have to be honest and say he started really well, and had a fantastic match against Tottenham.

"When he does make a mistake I'm the first to say to him he did a mistake because he understands. I'm not really focused on him like you, he's a great keeper, he could do better in the game against Fleetwood but the defenders could have done also. We didn't build up well as a team. That's it, he has my total confidence."

Leicester City

There was some good news on the injury front for Leicester with defender Jonny Evans in contention to start after a groin problem.

"He’s had a good couple of weeks and I think, for most players, they’re not going to be 100 per cent. I’d still have Jonny Evans at 80 per cent because he’s such a quality player," said Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers also confirmed Demarai Gray will miss Saturday's game through illness, though it is not covid related. Ricardo Pereira is back training outside as he continues his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury but is still 3-5 weeks away from a comeback.

Chelsea

Frank Lampard says he is being careful with Christian Pulisic as he works his way back from injury.

The American has yet to feature this season and Lampard does not want to rush him back too soon.

“There is always concerns when there is a history with fitness. You have to make sure you don't overcook him," he said.

"There is a fine line, but he is hungry to play. It's something we have to manage with him. We want to get as many minutes of the great Christian we saw last season."

Chelsea

Frank Lampard says he will speak to Kepa and Willy Caballero following the arrival of fellow goalkeeper Edouard Mendy this week.

“I haven't spoken to him, but I will have a conversation with him and Caballero in 24 hours or so," said Lampard. "There is good competition between them.”

Chelsea

Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell made their Chelsea debuts in the midweek EFL Cup win against Barnsley but Lampard would not confirm whether they will retain their places for the weekend.

“I believe they are fit enough to start but I have to take in to consideration a quick turnaround on Tuesday and Saturday, then internationals," said Lampard.

"Thiago had 60 minutes in the tank, Ben I might be a little more cautious.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is the latest Premier League manager to be asked about the devastating impact the coronavirus pandemic is having on football finances.

“I am certainly aware of that," he said. "If you follow the news and the media and the country at the moment, it feels in a fragile state.

"We are understanding of that, it is the new normal. It's not a great situation, but we have to keep working.”

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers began his news conference by confirming midfielder Wilfred Ndidi needs surgery on a groin injury and will be out for around 12 weeks.

"He’s a huge player for us," said Rodgers. "It’s something that showed his mentality against Burnley [because] he felt it.

"Towards the end of last season, he felt some pain there and he felt it late on in the Burnley game [last Sunday].

"I’m sure he’ll make a really good recovery and we’ll welcome him back when he comes back, but there’s no doubt he’s a miss."

West Ham United

West Ham have been boosted by the news that captain Mark Noble is back in training after a toe injury.

The 33-year-old hasn't featured since the opening day defeat against Newcastle.

Issy Diop and Josh Cullen will be absent on Sunday as they continue to self-isolate.

Speaking about Noble, Alan Irvine said: "It’s always great to have him back. He’s fantastic around the place, really important in the dressing room at the training ground and in matches.

"His toe has been giving him pain for a while, but not any more so he’s got a smile on his face at the moment. It’s great to have him back training."

West Ham United

West Ham have yet to pick up a point this season, though they were unlucky to lose to a late goal at Arsenal last weekend.

Hammers assistant Alan Irvine says beginning the campaign with back-to-back league defeats puts even greater pressure on Saturday's clash with Wolves.

"Wolves is another huge game," he said. "Every team wants to get points on the board as quickly as possible.

We’re disappointed we haven’t done that so far – we thought we should have at Arsenal, but we were disappointed with the performance against Newcastle.

"We need to get points wherever we can, you’re never sure where you’ll get your points from in this league.

"Post-lockdown, I don’t think too many people thought we’d get points against Chelsea, but we did and it was a very important game for us."

Chelsea

Frank Lampard is next to speak to the media. We will bring you what he had to say shortly but first some early team news - new signing Edouard Mendy won't start tomorrow's game at West Brom.

Mendy only joined the club on Thursday and has not trained much this week, meaning Kepa Arrizabalaga or Willy Caballero will start between the sticks at the Hawthorns.

Newcastle United

Steve Bruce says that full-back Jamal Lewis and forward Allan Saint-Maximin are doubts for Sunday’s trip to Tottenham, while defender Ciaran Clark is likely to miss out.

“They’re the biggest doubts. Lewis has got an awful eye injury. He’s got a bad cut on it and we understand now the way things are with blood, so we’re just going to see how he is," said Bruce.

“Allan has got a slightly twisted ankle, so we’ll see how he is too. It’s a bit early yet for me to make the call before Sunday, but they’re the main two, along with Ciaran Clark, unfortunately. He hurt his thigh the other night, so I don’t think he’ll make it. But the other two, we’re hopeful.”

West Ham United

West Ham assistant Alan Irvine spoke to the media to preview Sunday's game against Wolves with manager David Moyes self-isolating after he, Issa Diop and Josh Cullen tested positive for Covid-19.

Irvine will be on the touchline for Sunday's game at London Stadium, but says Moyes will be making the key decisions.

"He’s fine. I’ve spoken to him several times this morning and he’s not feeling any symptoms," said Irvine.

"He hasn’t felt any all the way through. It’s a bit frustrating for him, but he’s working on things.

"David will be the manager and everything we do will be run through him first of all. He will make the decisions on everything he would if he was here. I’m just the messenger!

"I’ve spoken to Josh and Issa too and they’re both fine."

Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce says more coronavirus cases in football are inevitable after David Moyes and Neil Warnock both tested positive this week.

Leyton Orient were also forced to postpone their EFL Cup match with Tottenham on Tuesday after a number of their players tested positive, resulting in Spurs being given a bye to the next round.

“Obviously with the cases rising so alarmingly in the country, even though we’re very, very secure in our own bubble and when we’re here at the training ground, I think we all sense a security that everyone around us is OK," said Bruce.

“But as soon as we walk out the door this virus is out there. Footballers, managers – we’ve seen Moysey – we hope that they’re all OK. They’re not going to be immune to it just because they’re footballers, unfortunately.

“We have to get ready for that challenge as well because I think it’s pretty inevitable it’s going to happen."

Some breaking contract news: Burnley midfielder Ashley Westwood has signed a new three-year contract at Turf Moor.

The 30-year-old's previous deal was due to expire next summer.

“I still feel I’ve got plenty more to give," he said. "I feel fit, touch wood I’ve been lucky with injuries, and the way we train and do things here stands me in good stead for, hopefully, a long career.”
