It may be early but that attacking display sends out a big statement about their title credentials.

A big win for Manchester City Women.

City's latest move ends when Izzy Christiansen slices as a shot from outside the box high and wide.

As with all of the City attackers, Christiansen has been really good today.

It's keep ball for City now. This must be hurting the legs for the Arsenal players.

It seems a long time ago that Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema were causing havoc for Arsenal at the start for this second half. Mead wins her side a corner but it comes to nothing.

There hasn't been a lot wrong with Arsenal going forward but they have been blown away at the back.

City boss Nick Cushing isn't settling for five goals as he comes out and shouts some instructions towards his players from the technical area.

Academy Park falls silent for a couple of seconds. We must be due another goal soon?

Sub for City. The excellent Nikita Parris is replaced by City's summer signing German international Pauline Bremer.

A good position to come on for your competitive debut.

City have been shaky at the back at times but going forward they have been scintillating. Arsenal are one of their biggest title challengers but they have looked like they could score at any moment.

The home crowd are loving it, roaring their side forward.

    Jill Scott

    Told ya.

It's Jill Scott with City's fifth goal, another fine finish.

She surges forward from midfield, controls a ball inside the area with her first touch and then smashes into the bottom corner with her second.

It's crazy how open this game is.

City are flying forward once again and Nikita Parris goes for a spectacular scissor kick but doesn't connect. That came after Georgia Stanway curled a shot that looked to be going into the top corner before a flying save.

There are more goals in this one. I reckon for City though rather than Arsenal.

  12. goal

    Izzy Christiansen

    Game over?

Two goals in four minutes for Manchester City and they look home and dry.

It is a goal that threatened to happen in the first half as Jordan Nobbs is caught in possession by Izzy Christiansen. The City midfielder then surges towards goal and calmly curls a brilliant finish in off the bottom of the post.

    Georgia Stanway

Experienced midfielder + youthful exuberance in a striker = City back in front.

Jill Scott - a player with over 100 England caps - slides a brilliant through ball behind the Arsenal defence and 18-year-old Georgia Stanway races onto it before guiding the ball into the net.

It's another brilliantly worked goal. The last we'll see today? I doubt it.

I can safely predict Nobbs' no nonsense defender dad Keith Nobbs never produced an effort like that in his days in the Football League.

Either side could still win this. There is no clear favourite.

Nikita Parris again tests Sari van Veenendaal but Arsenal's Dutch keeper beats the ball away.

  15. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 64 mins

This was almost absolutely brilliant from Jordan Nobbs. She scored a 'worldie' here earlier in the year and comes a couple of inches from repeating the trick.

A cross comes to her along the ground from the right wing and from the edge of the area she whips a ball across the goalkeeper towards the top left corner.

She just doesn't get the dip and the ball clatters into the crossbar.

This one comes to nothing. Jordan Nobbs gets two attempts to cross from the right after her first set-piece effort is cleared but neither are her best effort.

It's like a basketball match. Arsenal win a corner.

    Nobbs to take...

This game shows no sign of letting up.

City's Izzy Christiansen almost stabs home from seven yards after a cross from the right. She just couldn't get enough pace behind the shot to beat Sari van Veenendaal.

You can see why Manchester City and Arsenal are among the title favourites though, they're both brilliant going forward.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 58 mins

Manchester City Women 2-2 Arsenal Women

City and England defender Steph Houghton is back on her feet and unsurprisingly is going to continue. She's from the north east. They make them tough there.

The stoppage gave City chance to make their first change with Jane Ross replaced by Georgia Stanway.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 55 mins

Manchester City Women 2-2 Arsenal Women

Sari van Veenendaal was at fault in the first half for City's second goal but she makes amends here.

It's end-to-end stuff and Claire Emslie fires a shot from the right side of the box on goal but the Arsenal keeper beats the ball behind.

Steph Houghton looks to have picked up a knock from the resulting corner which was booted clear by Arsenal.
