A decent game, that. Two goals and a number of other chances, mostly for the hosts.

    WSL table.

So, that draw has changed the table very little.

But for Aston Villa, it's another point towards safety - although with bottom side Birmingham 13 points back and only one team going down, they are surely safe already.

Reading, meanwhile, move level on 24 points with sixth-placed West Ham.

  5. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:22 GMT 26 March 2022

    Aston Villa 1-1 Reading

It was the last chance and it came to nothing.

    Honours even.

Justine Vanhaevermaet's penalty put Reading ahead after former Royals full-back Maz Pacheco tripped Amalie Eikeland.

But Villa grabbed a deserved leveller to avoid an 11th straight home defeat when Ramona Petzelberger headed home Laura Blindkilde's pinpoint cross.

Now a Villa corner in time added on.

Into the final minute of normal time and Reading have a corner.

It comes to nothing but the Royals have a great second-phase chance.

Justine Vanhaevermaet lays the ball off to Rachel Rowe on the edge of the box but she drills wide.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 88 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Reading

    Grace Moloney keeps Reading level.

Laura Blindkilde, my player of the match, slips another ball through the eye of a needle for Remi Allen.

She takes a touch seven yards out but Moloney is out quickly to foil the prodded shot with a strong hand.

Few tired legs out there now. Balls are going long, accuracy is dipping. Might take a mistake to determine a winner.

    Aston Villa 1-1 Reading

Wonderful defensive work from teenage midfielder Laura Blindkilde, who looks a real talent.

That sets Villa on the attack and Emily Gielnik goes down when jumping for a cross. Villa appeal for a penalty but no dice.

Seven minutes to go - who's getting the winner?

    Aston Villa 1-1 Reading

Villa with their tails up now.

A high free-kick is flicked on by a Reading defender and, for a second, it seems Ramona Petzelberger is in again but keeper Grace Moloney collects.

  14. goal

    GOAL - Aston Villa 1-1 Readingpublished at 14:06 GMT 26 March 2022

    Ramona Petzelberger (76 mins)

What a cross. What a header.

Out of nowhere, Villa break down the right and 18-year-old Laura Blindkilde puts in a corker of a delivery for Ramona Petzelberger, timing her far-post arrival perfectly, to bury an unstoppable header.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Reading

That goal has taken the wind out of Aston Villa's sails.

    It's all Reading now.

Deanne Rose's ball across the Villa box is inviting but there's no one there to tuck it home.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Reading

Great opportunity for Reading to seal the points.

A Villa corner is cleared and Deanne Rose robs Ramona Petzelberger on the edge of the box.

She sprints half the length of the pitch as Reading have four on two but the final pass lets them down, Laura Blindkilde cutting it out to keep the hosts in it.

  17. goal

    GOAL - Aston Villa 0-1 Readingpublished at 13:59 GMT 26 March 2022

    Justine Vanhaevermaet (69 mins)

Belgium midfielder Justine Vanhaevermaet sends Hannah Hampton the wrong way from the spot, despatching her spot-kick into the bottom left corner.

    Advantage Reading.

  18. PENALTYpublished at 13:58 GMT 26 March 2022

    Aston Villa 0-0 Reading

    Penalty to Reading.

Maz Pacheco hangs out a leg, oh dear. Amalie Eikeland goes over it after nutmegging the full-back and the referee points to the spot.

Deanne Rose's cross goes wildly wide. Kind of sums up Reading's attacking output thus far.
