Arsenal made improvements last season and look to be keeping that momentum. Man United are moving the opposite way, Ten Haag needs another £1.3bn to turn it around.

    Amalan from Stratford

I understand that some Arsenal fans still think it's 03/04 season & they are a footy superpower & can't handle they are signing a player who won't start at City but trust me, Jesus is class. Gunners should be dancing in the streets at the thought of his arrival.

  10. Man Utd sign Stevenage youngster Harrisonpublished at 12:13 BST 27 June 2022

    Manchester United

Not the one that Manchester United fans were hoping for to impact on the first team mind.

United have instead signed 16-year-old goalkeeper Elyh Harrison from League Two Stevenage.

Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace said: “Our very best wishes go to Elyh, and we will follow his career with interest. This is the fourth young player in four years that has been signed from Stevenage’s Academy to a Premier League club”.

“We have negotiated all of these transfers outside of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) system and therefore [it] delivers significant funding to the Club, alongside a continued financial interest in their success, justifying our huge investment in the Academy”.

  12. Brighton keen to keep Cucurellapublished at 12:05 BST 27 June 2022

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

It is understood Pep Guardiola is keen to add Brighton defender Marc Cucurella to his squad to bolster his left-sided options.

Brighton are aware of the rumours but they are in a very strong bargaining position.

Cucurella still has four years left on the contract he signed when he joined Graham Potter's men 12 months ago and have already sold Yves Bissouma this summer.

They have no interest in selling Cucurella, so it would take something pretty sizeable to get him.

Brentford have appointed former England and Fiji rugby sevens coach Ben Ryan to a new role of director of elite performance at the club.

Former Nottingham scrum-half Ryan, 50, who guided Fiji to Olympic sevens gold at Rio 2016, will work alongside head coach Thomas Frank.

Ryan, who studied at Cambridge and Loughborough universities, was head coach of England Sevens for six years before taking up the same role with Fiji when rugby sevens was introduced to the Olympics for the first time in Rio.

He was also awarded the highest honour in Fiji - Companion of the Order of Fiji - for his role in helping the country win their first-ever Olympic medal and his face also appears on coins and bank notes in the South Pacific archipelago

  16. 'Honoured, proud, humbled' - Turner signs for Arsenalpublished at 11:36 BST 27 June 2022

Arsenal's new signing Matt Turner says he is "blessed, grateful, honoured, proud, humbled and every other emotion" as he joins the Gunners from MLS side New England Revolution.

Turner says he and his family "feel right at home" after making the move.

“Obviously New Jersey is pretty far from North London but watching Arsenal as a kid, I fell in love with the way the team plays and the values of this club," he said.

“It felt like a long shot, but why not dream of putting my team’s shirt on one day.

“So I dedicated my life to working at my game and being the best player and person that I could be. I was able to realise a dream and this is one of the best days of my life.”

  17. Derby D-Day on Wednesdaypublished at 11:30 BST 27 June 2022

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

It has been an awful period for Derby County fans but it finally looks as though there is going to be a happy ending with regards to the future of the club.

Local businessman David Clowes has been given Preferred Bidder status and exclusivity in negotiations with the club's administrators, who have been in place since September.

Providing there are no hitches, the deal should be completed on Wednesday, which will allow the club to move forward - and temporary boss Liam Rosenior to bring some players in.

Derby start pre-season training today with five contracted players.

  19. Lots of noise around Manchester Citypublished at 11:22 BST 27 June 2022

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

It is another two weeks before Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola gets his players back for the start of pre-season training.

However, there is plenty of noise around the club at present, both in terms of incoming and outgoing transfers.

City have agreed a deal with Leeds for Kalvin Phillips, which will cost them £42.3m if it goes through.

A outline £45m transfer is in place for Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus to join Arsenal, whilst Chelsea are pushing to sign Raheem Sterling, who still has a year left on his City contract and undecided about his future.

None of these deals are done yet but I would expect movement over the coming days.
