  2. Motherwell 'need to be better' - Kettlewellpublished at 17:55 BST 28 October 2023

    FT: Motherwell 3-3 Ross County

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Sportsound: "My first thought is real anger and frustration.

"We put ourselves into a position - we could create more - but after the first 15 minutes we took full control.

"We started the second half exactly like that but without looking enough of a goal threat.

"Then we just shoot ourselves in the foot. The goals emanate from two throw-ins which comes down to organisation."

Kettlewell was annoyed that County's first goal was not ruled out for a handball in the build up by Victor Loturi, but concedes his team should have defended better for all three goals.

"I'm really annoyed at that side of things," he adds. "But the flip side is we showed unbelievable character to get back into the game.

"I'm delighted at that, and the fact a 17-year-old [Luca Ross] gets a goal that gets us a point, but I think we have to be better in all honesty."

  3. Montgomery has 'unwavering belief' in Hibspublished at 17:53 BST 28 October 2023

    FT: Hibernian 0-0 Celtic

Hibs manager Nick Montgomery tells BBC Sportsound: "I'm really happy with the point and really proud of the team to get clean sheet against a team of the quality of Celtic. We probably had the best chance of the game too.

"Defensively, I thought we were resolute. We were really brave with the way we played out. In terms of the final pass and utilising the pace of Martin Boyle, we maybe missed out on that option.

"I've got unwavering belief in the way that I want to play football and I have an unwavering belief in this squad. I don't listen to other people.

"The trick - that we probably didn't get right last week - is wingers tracking back, and I thought the effort from Martin and Elie [Youan] was excellent."

  4. Montano red a sending off 'all day long' - Martindalepublished at 17:50 BST 28 October 2023

    FT: Livingston 0-2 Dundee

Livingston manager David Martindale tells Sportsound: "Probably got what they deserved.

"The sending off is a red card all day long if I’m honest. Really, really disappointed and I’ll deal with that internally.

"Then the game gets hard with 10 men, but we get done with two set-plays and I'm not putting that down to 10 men. Maybe how the ball got into the final third to concede the set-play but we’ve got to defend the set-plays better.

"We need to get some centre halves as quick as possible as, I don’t think there’s any getting away from it and I’ve got to take responsibility, we’re not defending our 18-yard box as well as we were at the start of the season.

"To be sitting here with a centre half scoring two goals against you are home is really disappointing."

  5. Goals dry up at Easter Roadpublished at 17:49 BST 28 October 2023

    FT: Hibernian 0-0 Celtic

Hibs and Celtic served up 21 goals across four meetings last season.

This was just the fifth goalless draw they have played out in 20 years.

  6. Mackay rues 'horrendous' goalspublished at 17:42 BST 28 October 2023

    FT: Motherwell 3-3 Ross County

Ross County manager Malky Mackay sounds stunned by his side's late collapse as they threw away a two-goal lead at the death.

"The manner of the goals we lost today, all three weren't great," he told BBC Scotland. "The last one we don't clear a header but the first two are horrendous.

"We're looking at them and we're killing ourselves because we were excellent today. I thought we were terrific and could have scored seven. Laidlaw hasn't had a save to make. But we gifted goals away.

"It's two points dropped today and it was always going to be a tough game, Motherwell are a good team riding high in the league and causing teams problems.

"But the shape we played and the bravery of the players was excellent. But at one end we've got to be more clinical, and at the other not give horrendous goals away."

  7. Celtic 'lacked speed', laments Rodgerspublished at 17:39 BST 28 October 2023

    FT: Hibernian 0-0 Celtic

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Sportsound: "I thought by the time we started to play with the speed and tempo we like, it was too late. Our plan is to always to make a quick start.

"We were good with the ball but we gave it away needlessly. We were playing long passes when we didn't have to. We just didn't play with enough speed. We did that in the last 20-25 minutes and the game looks different for us. By that time, we just couldn't make the breakthrough.

"We've played 10 games now. We've had eight wins and two draws and done well in the main.

"The effort and commitment was there, now we need to recover and get ready for Wednesday (at home to St Mirren)."

On the withdrawal of Alistair Johnston with what looked like a concussion, he says: "I just spoke to the medical team and they said he was fine. It was just at the time, they said he felt a wee bit funny."

  8. 'I was confident we could get the win' - Dochertypublished at 17:35 BST 28 October 2023

    FT: Livingston 0-2 Dundee

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells BBC Sportsound: "Huge credit to the players for their second half performance.

"I wasn't pleased with the first-half performance I thought we were too safe.

"I really asked them to up it. I decided to be more offensive, going with two strikers and I thought [Amadou] Bakayoko made a huge impression on the game.

"I just said to the players there, I was really confident we could go and win the game but even if they didn't win that second half, that’s the way I want to play.

"I’m really pleased with the performance and I’m pleased for the players that they got that result."

  10. 'Expectations on the up' - Robinsonpublished at 17:32 BST 28 October 2023

FT: St Mirren 4-0 St Johnstone

St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson tells BBC Sportsound: "I'm very happy with the result. We were very clinical. We've played a lot better than that and the scoreline is harsh on St Johnstone to be honest, but when we got our opportunities we took them.

"First half, there was nothing in the game, not a lot of quality on show. Second half, we stepped it up. We created chances and played like we can do. I'm delighted for the players, when you're not at your best and you score four goals and keep a clean sheet, you're very happy.

"The whole club is raising expectations both on and off the pitch. It's a tough game on Wednesday night, but Hibs have shown today that Celtic aren't invincible. We go there with confidence."

  11. 'Some players might be lucky to play again' - MacLeanpublished at 17:27 BST 28 October 2023

FT: St Mirren 4-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Steven MacLean tells BBC Sportsound: "Poor. Not good enough. It's my responsibility, my team, and they weren't good enough all over the pitch. Need to get better in all areas.

"It's nothing to do with [not playing for three weeks]. Individuals not taking responsibility. I take responsibility, but it's poor. Some of them should be ashamed of their performances. Individual errors, battling qualities, just fight, it isn't good enough.

"You can't dress it up. We had a lot of final third entries, but we had no first contact. The goals that we concede are criminal.

"It's up to me. We'll be in tomorrow, we'll work on it, we'll watch it back. Some players might be lucky to play again for me. As simple as that.

"It's not acceptable - I'm not having it."

  12. 'MacLean knows the pressure will be on'published at 17:24 BST 28 October 2023

FT: St Mirren 4-0 St Johnstone

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Scotland Sportsound

It's a difficult time for Steven MacLean. St Johnstone never looked like scoring this afternoon and when you are shipping goals at the back, it's a depressing formula.

MacLean knows the pressure will be on him after being dominated by St Mirren in the second half. Questions will be asked.

  13. 'Brilliant Buddies shine again'published at 17:22 BST 28 October 2023

FT: St Mirren 4-0 St Johnstone

    Leanne Crichton
Former Scotland international on BBC Sportsound

Stephen Robinson must be so proud of his players and his backroom team.

St Mirren have been brilliant, continuing a great start to the season.

They have shown on more than one occasion this season that they've got different ways of finding a solution to the opposition they are facing.

Joe Shaughnessy has turned out to be captain fantastic… Goals have not been easy to come by for Dundee so Tony Docherty will be delighted his skipper has stepped up to the plate.

Dundee are up to fourth, having dropped to 11th at one point this afternoon!

    FT: Motherwell 3-3 Ross County

    Derek Ferguson
    Former Rangers midfielder on Sportsound

The first period was tame to say the least, but the second period was magnificent. Six goals. Yes, six goals.

  17. 'European hangover hampers Celtic'published at 17:10 BST 28 October 2023

    FT: Hibernian 0-0 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Scotland Sportsound

There was certainly a hangover from Wednesday night. The energy levels were down, there was too many players - Kyogo, Palma and Maeda - who didn't perform.

Bernardo didn't do too much in the game to show why he would be in the team - even with Hatate injured - they missed him.
