Right, that's it from us for this evening.

Rafael Nadal is safely into the last 16 without dropping a set and you can read Jonathan Jurejko's take on the Spaniard's victory here.

Meanwhile, in the women's draw, Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina are also both comfortably into the next round - check out everything that happened on Friday here.

And as always you can keep across the BBC Sport website for all the latest scores and updates from Roland Garros.

We'll be back with you tomorrow. Until then...

Here's more from Rafael Nadal: "We are in a very strange situation after a lot of months without playing, especially for me because I did not play in America.

"I don't know if that is positive or negative, I take it as a very positive thing because I am playing quite well. To win against a player like Stefano with this score is because I did a lot of things well, I played more aggressive than the previous days so I'm happy with that.

"I went to the net more often and hit a lot more winners, my serve is working."

Rafael Nadal starts answering questions in French and then gets a little confused, points to his head and says in English "no inspiration today!".

Who are you backing for this autumn French Open, then? Rafa, Thiem, Djokovic? A surprise outsider? Maybe this chap....

Apparently Nadal's next opponent Sebi Korda has a cat named Rafa...

Rafael Nadal reaches the last 16 in just one hour, 35 minutes and will face 20-year-old American Sebastian Korda next.

No drama. The 12-time champ engineers a first match point...

Oh! Can you believe it... Nadal shakes his head after swanning into the net and failing to convert a simple volley. 30-30.

Looks like a beaut of an evening in Paris. Rafael Nadal has sprinted through this match like a man who's booked on a twilight cruise down the Seine. 30-0.

Nadal, obviously wounded by being beaten by a shot like that, races to another break and puts the finishing touches on it with an emphatic down-the-line forehand that barely rises above the tape. Anything you can do...

Brilliant! What a winner for Stefano Travaglia, one for the highlights reel. He picks Rafa Nadal off at the net with a superb passing backhand that has the Spaniard stumbling across the clay to no avail. The Italian throws his arms into the air in mock celebration/relief. 30-15.

Right then, Rafa. The second seed will be looking to blitz through the rest of this set and book his spot in the last 16 in time for tea. He whips a forehand winner beyond his opponent and then fizzes down a string-busting serve to hold to love.

Gaston was absolutely relentless. For someone who hasn't played at this level.... to play someone at Stan's level, he was relentless. The guy never went away. He thoroughly deserved the win.

It's quite remarkable.

Rafael Nadal saunters to the net to meet a high-bouncing Travaglia backhand that just creeps over the net and swats it away like he's playing swingball. He takes a double break.

Travaglia cannot pick up a dipping Nadal forehand and that's another break point for the Spaniard.

This looks to be slipping away from Stefano Travaglia, who put in a huge effort in the second set after being somewhat humbled in the first by a ruthless Rafael Nadal.

15-30.

Exciting times for the umpire, who's off his chair and pointing at the chalk to determine whether a Nadal shot dropped in or not. Reminds me of a summer I spent working at a camp in America, where they bizarrely had clay courts and we had to straddle the lines to nail them in every few weeks. Clay sounds great in theory, but it gets very messy very quickly... Nadal holds to love.
