Whisper it quietly, but United are holding their own and creating some nice chances. Not sure if they're showing enough to win. But would a point away be good enough?

  2. 'Mbeumo should have kept going'published at 12:58 GMT

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Ally McCoist
Former Scotland striker on TNT Sports

I just think there's a doubt in Bryan Mbeumo's mind whether it's coming in first time, does he just stop at the last minute? He just doubted it when he should keep going.

Its been a good open game so far from both sides.

You'd have to say United are the better side here.

Stamford Bridge is very, very quiet as a result.

  5. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Inches away!

Bruno Fernandes looks on it as he receives the ball in the box and squares for Bryan Mbeumo but it's a yard in front of him.

  6. 'A really poor touch'published at 12:55 GMT

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Ally McCoist
Former Scotland striker on TNT Sports

A brilliant pass from Andrey Santos early on. This is a big chance and what a poor touch from Matheus Cunha, really poor.

  7. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes is lucky to get away without a yellow card after chopping down Josh Acheampong.

Bruno Fernandes could not have wished for a better opportunity than that.

Bryan Mbeumo's pass from the touchline was perfect.

Fernandes controlled and while he was running at pace, a player of his ability should be able to control his shot.

Sadly for Manchester United it was way off target. Michael Carrick talks about fine margins. How important a goal that would have been.

  9. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Matheus Cunha's first touch lets him down as he looks to get his shot off but Levi Colwill has great recovery pace to get back in.

  10. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

There's a bit of pinball in the box and it bounces off the head of Wesley Fofana before Senne Lammens gathers.

  11. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

A gap opens for Josh Acheampong in the United box and he drives one towards goal but it's blocked behind for another Chelsea corner.

Everything about it is brilliant, the break is fantastic, Bryan Mbeumo does the right thing holding the ball.

It's just Bruno Fernades' final touch that isn't spot on.

  13. Postpublished at 12:51 GMT

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

Bryan Mbeumo picks out Bruno Fernandes and his first touch isn't the one which we are normally accustomed to. Fernandes has to at the very least hit the target.

  14. 'Alonso believes in Rogers'published at 12:51 GMT

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Joe Cole
Former Chelsea and England midfielder on TNT Sports

Xabi Alonso named Morgan Rogers as one of the players who's got fight and tenacity, when a manager says that he really believes in that players.

United don't look great at the back at all but they just about scramble the free-kick clear and away Bryan Mbeumo goes down the right.

He finds Bruno Fernandes with a great ball but he skies horribly.

    Big, big chance.

  16. Fans respond to Estevaopublished at 12:49 GMT

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

There are chants of "Steve-o", the nickname of Estevao Willian among the Chelsea faithful at Stamford Bridge.

The young attacker is hugely popular with supporters here, and his omission from Chelsea's line-ups under Xabi Alonso has been a source of criticism for the new manager.

  17. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Morgan Rogers almost works his way past the United defence with a flip flap but he wins a corner instead.

The corner comes to nothing but Rogers has won a free-kick this time.

  18. 'Estevao is just eager'published at 12:47 GMT

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Ally McCoist
Former Scotland striker on TNT Sports

Estevao doesn't need to be offside, we'll get a look at it and there's no need for him to be there. He's just eager to do well, but he's got to hold his line.

He's been lively in these opening minutes.

  19. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Decent game this. Both are having a go and that's what we all want to see.

  20. Postpublished at 12:47 GMT

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

Xabi Alonso has proven in a short period of time that he wants a clear pattern for how he wants his team to play.

I am surprised Danny Welbeck isn't starting. The reason you brought him to the squad is for back-up. I think it is a game which would be well suited to him.
