Thousands of visitors have been flocking to a semi-detached house in the West Midlands, which has been transformed into a celebration of all things Halloween.

The home of Darren Mackenzie and Karen Pearce has been decked out with monsters, skeletons and pumpkins taking over the driveway, garage and garden.

Hundreds queued on Friday night to see the attraction on Hob Moor Road, Yardley where the owners are raising money for a mental health charity.

"It's just crazy," said Karen, "we've had over three thousand through the doors and about five hundred in the queue now".

She said the display began last October when her partner, Darren, decorated the outside of their house, and "everybody just loves it".

Support from the local community had been "fantastic," she added.

"Everybody's here always talking to us saying how nice it is."

There is no entry fee for visitors, just an optional donation to the mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

"We've raised over £3,000 at the moment," said Darren, and explained they were hoping for a total of £5,000.

"That would be wonderful," he added, "we're really, really happy with all the support we've had".

He said they had chosen the charity because "[with the] cost-of-living crisis everybody's struggling at the minute".

"Everybody struggles a bit with their mental health," he added.

"We just wanted everybody to come out, enjoy themselves, put a bit of money in the tin if they can - if not just come along and enjoy yourself, it's completely free."

The attraction remains open from 17:00 GMT until 22:00 on Saturday.

"Come and enjoy the carnival atmosphere, it's fantastic," added Darren.
