A woman has died after being hit by a Range Rover.

Emergency services were called to Mare Close in the village of Seghill, Northumberland, on Sunday afternoon. Northumbria Police said a grey Range Rover Sport had collided with a pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, near an entrance gate to a field.

She sustained life-threatening injuries and died in hospital on Sunday evening.

Sgt Greg Huntley of Northumbria Police said officers' thoughts were with the family and appealed for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
