The M11 was partially closed in both directions following a six-vehicle crash, leaving two people injured.

It happened at about 11:10 GMT on the southbound carriageway near Girton, Cambridgeshire, with a second minor collision taking place shortly afterwards on the opposite carriageway.

The northbound carriageway was opened shortly after, and the southbound was opened by about 16:00.

The East of England Ambulance Service said several ambulances and the Magpas air ambulance were sent, and two people were taken by road to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

National Highways said earlier on X that traffic initially caught within the closure had been released.

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the crash involved six vehicles, including a van and two lorries.

It said one of the people taken to hospital sustained serious injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
