A man who held a knife to a shop worker's throat during a robbery has been jailed.

Kyle Cripps, 19, robbed Diamond Vapes on Bridge Street in Peterborough on the evening of 22 June, threatening a member of staff in "a terrifying ordeal", Cambridgeshire Police said.

He was arrested soon after and it was revealed he had stolen the knife from a nearby Asda just 10 minutes before the crime, the force added.

Cripps, of Charnwood Close, Fletton, Peterborough, admitted robbery and was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison at Cambridge Crown Court.

The 19-year-old also stole some counterfeit notes that were on display behind the till, police said.

Det Con Hannah Worthington, from Cambridgeshire Police, said: "This was undoubtedly a terrifying ordeal for the member of staff, who was threatened at knifepoint."

She praised the "swift response" of officers, who quickly located the robber and took him into custody.

Cripps also admitted theft from shop and possession of a knife in a public place.
