Two babies and three adults were taken to hospital after six vehicles crashed at the end of an A14 slip-road in Suffolk.

It happened at the Claydon junction at about 17:30 GMT on Tuesday, causing the westbound carriageway to be closed between junctions 52 and 51.

Suffolk's fire service said crews found two separate but related crashes, with one involving four vehicles that had collided end-to-end containing five adults and two babies.

Two adults were involved in the other crash, but they were uninjured and able to drive away from the scene, said the service. The road reopened later in the evening.

The East of England Ambulance Service, said: "Three ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene. Five patients were transported to Ipswich Hospital for further care."

Suffolk Police has been contacted for a comment.
