Streaming added to million sales landmark
BBCThe Official Charts Company is changing how it calculates the million sales landmark to include streaming.
It means dozens of new acts will join the likes of The Beatles, Elton John and Queen to achieve the milestone.
Justin Bieber, Ellie Goulding and Little Mix are some of the artists who'll meet the updated criteria.
The rule change uses the same formula as the charts where 100 streams equal one sale or download.
Kevin Mazur/Hand in HandAccording to the company's data 98 million singles were sold last year compared to 44 billion streams.
Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company, said; "For six decades, hitting the million mark has been the landmark achievement for all of the world's greatest artist.
"Today, in an era redefined by streaming, it makes sense to redefine this list and create a new set of 'Millionaires'".
