A 23-year-old man has been arrested after at least 60 vehicles were scratched or damaged in one night.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the vehicles were vandalised on the evening of 21 November in the Scholes and Ince areas of Wigan.

GMP said "it is believed that up to 60 vehicles were scratched or otherwise damaged" with "potentially more having gone unnoticed".

The arrested man was held on suspicion of criminal damage.

Police said he was arrested on Merseyside on Sunday after police trawled through CCTV footage.

Insp Michael Crosthwaite said: "Criminal damage on a scale like this is incredibly concerning, and I know that residents will have been worrying about the safety of their property."
