Police are investigating reports of homophobic abuse from Nottingham Forest fans after their game against Brighton at the weekend.

Forest lost 3-2 to Brighton in a Premier League match at their City Ground on Saturday.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers had been working with the club to identify those involved.

The club said homophobia had no place in football and it was "committed to creating an inclusive environment".

Police said in a social media post: "We are looking into reports of a minority of NFFC fans who have sadly let themselves and the club down with their behaviour at the end of the game on Saturday.

"Homophobic abuse has no place in football and can't be defended with the term 'banter'."

Police added they had received reports from both Forest and Brighton supporters, and anyone who witnessed such behaviour should report it.
