Abuse apology: 'Nothing like this should happen again'

Victims and survivors of historical institutional abuse in Northern Ireland have been told that the state believes them - and is sorry.

Ministers from the five main Stormont parties have issued issuing a joint apology in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

It follows a 2017 inquiry which examined the abuse of hundreds of children at Church and state-run institutions over seven decades.
